You Tube, The Internet, IMDb (Jennifer how's the logo coming along, cough) Matt we can spend all year with this an one day we will but lets talk about February 8, 1997 Matt Show: February 8, 1997 Saturday Night Live with Host Neve Campbell and musical guest David Bowie Talk to me Peter Peter Austin Noto: 19 years ago. WOW Neve Campbell was the cats meow back then so working the show to see her was cool I can not remember what I did on show or even a memory of her on the show which is a shame But I do remember Bowie. during show I made sure when he rehearsed an when he would play live that night I managed to maneuver my way to the side of stage to see him perform during show an then replaced myself to see him come off stage. As I waited with others just doing there jobs in front of coffee machines an donuts there comes Bowie walking thru the doors larger then life with his people an I say “That was great what you did”, as if he needed my approval an Bowie said to me, “an I like what you did too.” He was very kind an I'm sure he never saw what I did, but maybe he did, who knows. One of those memories you do not forget an it wasn’t until a week or so ago that I remembered this SNL moment weeks after his death. Matt Snow: What did David Bowies death mean to you. Peter Austin Noto: In June 2014 I explained to Jennifer the stage feel I wanted for the show based on Bowies performance with Annie Lennox performing Under Pressure the tribute to Freddie Mercury. From that time on Bowie was always in my conscious mind again performance wise I guess you can say he was one of these entertainers that were the road marks of my life as a child on, his songs in the 70s all the way till now plus his videos during MTV’s video hey day We do have a rare clip from the SNL show of Bowie performing Scary Monsters I can not remember the performance only my brief meeting with him Matt Snow: You just gave me chills Peter My friend as usual it has been a pleasure an hope to do this again soon Peter Austin Noto: Same here |
