7 16 13 Jimmy Whispers The Hit Factory Interview

**************************************************
THIS MONTH IN PETER AUSTIN NOTO HISTORY
July 14, 1999 Peter Rehearsal For The Film Jimmy Whispers
********************************************************

Matt Snow:
Hello Peter I'm so glad you were able to join me today to discuss
Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street an the location you auditioned
for the film many times at The Hit Factory

Peter Austin Noto:
Thanks for asking me Matt, with the weather being so hot
sitting in a air conditioned office seems fine by me

Matt Snow:
Lets start off with Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street
from what I have been able to gather you auditioned 8 or 9 times for this movie
what was that like

Peter Austin Noto:
I lost count at 5 so if you say 8 or 9 that’s OK by me
This was done in July 1999 so specifics may be a bit shady

Matt Snow:
What do you remember

Peter Austin Noto:
Steve Garrin was doing the casting who I knew, hello Steve is you read this, great fellow
first class all the way, What I remember is just being impressed, I felt every actor there was from Godfellas
A Bronx Tale and the food they served was excellent Italian food. it was not from craft service

As far as the audition I read a little but they had me observe or maybe they were observing me
I never minded going back because the food was out standing

Matt Snow:
Tell us about the movie

Peter Austin Noto:
Wish I could, I never saw the movie nor was I ever cast for it but the experience was wonderful

Matt Snow:
So your experience was wonderful yet you were not cast for the movie, why was so wonderful

Peter Austin Noto:
When I found out the Hit Factory was were John Lennon recorded Double Fantasy in 1980
I was awe struck. as a life long Beatle fan and followed all 4 solos careers I became mesmerized by
the studio just knowing Lennon was there making music once upon a time and was there just an hour
before he was killed.

Matt Snow:
What was that like for you Peter, when John Lennon was assainated on December 8, 1980 outside
the Dakota Building in New York City

Peter Austin Noto:
I was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon was shot
an is dead. I worked in New York City at the time, not Show Business Related and instead of going to world
I went straight to the Dakota. must have arrived by 9AM an already there were hundreds maybe thousands
outside the Dakota, Beatle music playing, people crying an I can remember seeing the bullet holes in the glass
at the door man’s booth to let people in an out of building

Matt Snow:
Peter, you seemed very passionate as you described this, it must have meant a lot to you

Peter Austin Noto:
Were doing this interview on July 16, 2013, this took place on December 8, 1980 almost 33 years ago.
The sting is not as sharp as it was back then but it is one of those dots in ones life line that stands out
an lets you know where you were at that moment in your life an that never changes

Matt Snow:
You have summed this up quite well that I find no other direction of a question to ask you my friend
except thank you for sharing this with me.

Peter Austin Noto:
Thank you my friend
