If you look on the internet for Jimmy Whispers you get a guy called Jimmy Whispers
who teaches but the movie Jimmy Whispers may have been called
Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry in 2004.

It's hard to say if Peter was in the movie or not but many character actors from
Bronx Tale, Casino etc..

A mafia movie

More to follow...I think

This movie won the Audience Award at the California Independent Film Festival. People can't get enough of it! If you haven't seen it, you don't know what you're missing out on. It's got loads of Staten Island charisma and features the Island's hot spots as much as the actors. This beats the Soprano's anytime with less violence and more charm. This movie is Clem Caserta's directorial debut. He's starred with Robert DeNiro and Chazz Palminteri in favorites like "The Bronx Tale" and "Casino. Read his Bio and Film Credits.

Press Release about the movie
-------------------------------------
September 18, 2002

Sunday's season premiere of the Sopranos was the most watched show in HBO's 30-year history, and whacked every network show in its time slot. The first season premiere averaged 7.9 million households—that's a whopping 13.4 million viewers –from 9pm to 10pm, as the mobsters on Prozac series returned after a 16-month hiatus (New York Post, September 18, 2002).

The gangster-Mafia genre is rated as one of the most popular themes watched on television today. Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street, encompasses all the elements that make the Sopranos so well received among audiences—family, food, principles, pride and tradition but with less violence and more Disney sensibility.

In this piece, the hero, Jimmy Whispers—(played by Clem Caserta—whose credits ranged from such films as Analyze This (1995), Casino (1994) and The Bronx Tale (1993) to name a few), returns to his neighborhood after serving 5 years in prison to find the streets corrupted with drugs and crime. His job, as head of the family, is to bring back the place people remember as a safe, comfortable community where respect was "understood."

Caserta also the director of the film said, "I wanted to make a movie Italian-Americans would be proud to watch". This movie represents those million of viewers who love and are loyal to this genre, but also the millions of unhappy Italian-Americans who feel programs like the Sopranos show Italians as brutal, murderous thugs.

A Washington based group that promotes Italian American heritage, The National Italian-American Foundation is asking HBO to televise a disclaimer before or after each episode, stating that the series is not representative of the 25 million Americans of Italian heritage (CNN.Com from CNN Radio with Dick Uliano).

Caserta grew up in Little Italy on Mulberry Street and could recall the old neighborhood. He feels his film paints a "real" picture of what life use to be in the old hood. He achieved an authentic feel in his film by combining the principles of a documentary—unrehearsed dialogue, with the formula of a drama—scripted characters interactions. Most of the dialogue of the film was created on the spot.

According to Caserta, "My picture doesn't have nudity, profanity or killing. It does have minimal violence...but this is necessary for the plot in order to establish the nemesis of the piece." This is the first of a trilogy Caserta is producing to help promote programming that represents Italian-Americans in a less aggressive role as the Sopranos. Caserta, "My goal is to capture a portion of the audience that watches this type of genre but also gain the respect and interest of the millions of unhappy Italian-Americans who "protest" the Sopranos.

Ellen Grade       The inside scope 7-12-2008 07:22 AM
The inside scope I've been able to come up with regarding Jimmy Whispers is this,
Peter auditioned many times for the film but due to uncertainty of when production would begin
and Peters other commitments I believe Peter did not actually work on the film.

Some of the interesting behind the scenes info is Peter
auditioned at the same studio that John Lennon recorded
his last album, Double Fantasy before he was assassinated!

Many of the actors who were there but also were not involved with Jimmy Whispers
were many who worked on Casino, Sopranos, A Bronx Tale and Goodfellas.

Also Pat Cooper auditioned for a role.

John Lennon controversy
After the death of John Lennon, on December 8, 1980, the legendary status of the hit-generating Hit Factory became even greater. Mourners and music fans around the world read accounts of the murder in newspapers on the days following the shooting, and the Hit Factory was mentioned in some of these publications. However, there is controversy as to whether he was recording at the Hit Factory or the nearby Record Plant the day he was murdered. Most publications cite the Record Plant as the location. Individuals present with John, including his producer Jack Douglas, cite the Record Plant as the studio where he spent his time recording and mixing tracks that evening.[

Worse yet, some believe he left the 421 West 54th facility before his death. That facility opened as The Hit Factory in 1992, well after Lennon's passing.

Note: Even though it opened as The Hit Factory in 1992, well after Lennon's passing

421 West 54th

It was the studio John Lennon recorded Double Fantasy in and later Peter auditioned many tines for Jimmy Whispers and other show biz projects.

Jimmy Whispers: Nightmare on Mulberry Street, 4 October 2006

Author: Tom Smith from United States
*** This review may contain spoilers ***

I had a difficult time telling if this movie was meant to be a joke or if it was to be taken seriously. Aside for a horrendous and predictable plot, terrible fight scenes, and ludicrous dialouge, the movie is barely watchable due to the fact that it was shot digitally. If you're a filmmaker... use film.

WARNING! SPOILERS! Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street to find, that of all groups, the Chinese have taken over the block. He then rounds up the old gang (of actors who had they taken classes at the Jimmy Whispers Acting School, they would be upgradable to Horrible) in an effort to take back the streets.

A previous poster cited the actor's accents and mannerisms as very accurate, and this is true, however, that is as close to "good" as it can get. Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street is more accurately A Nightmare on Mulberry Street

possibly I may be doing a interview with
Peter Austin Noto regarding Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street
(maybe today?, maybe tomorrow,? maybe later down the road, I'm not sure if even at all

Only in the rumor stage an not so much on the film Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street
but more in the lines of the 9 or 10 auditions Peter Austin Noto participated in at The Hit Factory
for the casting og the film Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street
(legendary casting person Steve Garrin was in charge) The Hit Factory has had an still does have many
big name artists that record there but the most legendary back in 1980 John Lennon accompanied buy
Yoko Ono were John Lennon recorded his last album Double Fantasy

As you know John Lennon back in 1980 was at the Hit Factory doing final touches for
Double Fantasy an later returning to the Dakota Apartment building on the west side
of New York City and John Lennon was assonated – December 8, 1980.

As the day progresses we hope to have Peter Austin Noto’s insight on this

********************************************************

Matt Snow:
Hello Peter I'm so glad you were able to join me today to discuss
Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street an the location you auditioned
for the film many times at The Hit Factory

Peter Austin Noto:
Thanks for asking me Matt, with the weather being so hot
sitting in a air conditioned office seems fine by me

Matt Snow:
Lets start off with Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street
from what I have been able to gather you auditioned 8 or 9 times for this movie
what was that like

Peter Austin Noto:
I lost count at 5 so if you say 8 or 9 that’s OK by me
This was done in July 1999 so specifics may be a bit shady

Matt Snow:
What do you remember

Peter Austin Noto:
Steve Garrin was doing the casting who I knew, hello Steve is you read this, great fellow
first class all the way, What I remember is just being impressed, I felt every actor there was from Godfellas
A Bronx Tale and the food they served was excellent Italian food. it was not from craft service

As far as the audition I read a little but they had me observe or maybe they were observing me
I never minded going back because the food was out standing

Matt Snow:
Tell us about the movie

Peter Austin Noto:
Wish I could, I never saw the movie nor was I ever cast for it but the experience was wonderful

Matt Snow:
So your experience was wonderful yet you were not cast for the movie, why was so wonderful

Peter Austin Noto:
When I found out the Hit Factory was were John Lennon recorded Double Fantasy in 1980
I was awe struck. as a life long Beatle fan and followed all 4 solos careers I became mesmerized by
the studio just knowing Lennon was there making music once upon a time and was there just an hour
before he was killed.

Matt Snow:
What was that like for you Peter, when John Lennon was assainated on December 8, 1980 outside
the Dakota Building in New York City

Peter Austin Noto:
I was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon was shot
an is dead. I worked in New York City at the time, not Show Business Related and instead of going to world
I went straight to the Dakota. must have arrived by 9AM an already there were hundreds maybe thousands
outside the Dakota, Beatle music playing, people crying an I can remember seeing the bullet holes in the glass
at the door man’s booth to let people in an out of building

Matt Snow:
Peter, you seemed very passionate as you described this, it must have meant a lot to you

Peter Austin Noto:
Were doing this interview on July 16, 2013, this took place on December 8, 1980 almost 33 years ago.
The sting is not as sharp as it was back then but it is one of those dots in ones life line that stands out
an lets you know where you were at that moment in your life an that never changes

Matt Snow:
You have summed this up quite well that I find no other direction of a question to ask you my friend
except thank you for sharing this with me.

Peter Austin Noto:
Thank you my friend
