Just purchased Plants new album Raising Sand

Favorite tracks are probably Rich Woman and Stick With Me Baby as of now.
Very hip and relaxing vibe, I could put this album on the background while with associates as we chain-smoke cigarettes and drink coffee.

If you're a fan of Plant's solo work, I'm sure you'll enjoy this gem.
On a random related side note, there's a performance of these two doing Black Dog but I can't confirm nor locate it.
Anyone wanna take a stab at that?

I didn't really understand the combination but it blended very well together.
It's an amazing album. I had a friend at a record store hook me up through his privileges and I don't regret paying for this whatsoever.

It's the first time in awhile that I've actually purchased a compact disc.
Krauss has always been so incredibly gorgeous and just to hear her sing with the frontman of Led Zeppelin is like some wacky dream come true.

Tracklist:
1. Rich Woman 4:05
2. Killing the Blues 4:17
3. Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us 3:25
4. Polly Come Home 5:39
5. Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On) 3:33
6. Through the Morning, Through the Night 4:02
7. Please Read the Letter 5:55
8. Trampled Rose 5:33
9. Fortune Teller 4:31
10. Stick with Me Baby 2:51
11. Nothin' 5:34
12. Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson 4:01
13. Your Long Journey 3:54

I THINK I DID IT RIGHT THIS TIME

I've not read all the posts in this thread, but going to toss my .02 in anyway. First listen brought me a couple of strong likes (Gone Gone Gone and especially Fortune Teller) and a few maybe's. With repeated playing this beautifully done album has really grown on me and I'm loving it. I've fallen in love with the tracks Killing The Blues and Your Long Journey, both of them are so haunting with truly lovely vocals delivered. I really enjoy what they've done with Please Read The Letter too. Truth be told, I'm quite content to listen to it from beginning to end. There really isn't a song on there I dislike. It's not my favorite effort by Robert, but for sure not in my discard pile either. If they do tour and come close enough, it's a show I'd really like to see.

Robert's new song on Raising Sand may explain where Robert's heart is at these days. Especially notable on certain verses that have been left out from the original song by Townes Van Zandt.
I highlighted these verses to show how meanigful they are but for some reason weren't included on Robert and Alison's version.
The song is called "Nothin'". It is a song that could have easily been on a Zep record. It has that swirling, dark majesty about it and Robert sings one of his best vocals in years on it. Listen to it and see if you don't agree...

Hey mama, when you leave
Don't leave a thing behind
I don't want nothin'
I can't use nothin'

Take care into the hall
And if you see my friends
Tell them I'm fine
Not using nothin'

Almost burned out my eyes
Threw my ears down to the floor
I didn't see nothin'
I didn't hear nothin'

I stood there like a block of stone
Knowin' all I had to know
And nothin' more
Man, that's nothin'

As brothers our troubles are
Locked in each others arms
And you better pray
They never find you

Your back ain't strong enough
For burdens doublefold
They'd crush you down
Down into nothin'

Being born is going blind
And buying down a thousand times
To echoes strung
On pure temptation

Sorrow and solitude
These are the precious things
And the only words
That are worth rememberin'...

I don't need....NOTHIN'!

As the rock world seethes with anticipation about the Led Zep reunion, its frontman Robert Plant is enamored with the most unlikely collaboration of his career.

The man regarded as a godfather of heavy metal has recorded an album with the queen of country and bluegrass, Alison Krauss. Little known here, she‘s won 20 Grammies – more than any other woman.

At 59 Plant is still considered one of the most powerful stage performers around, but as he gets ready to sing with Led Zeppelin once more, his new Nashville harmonies have brought a different critical success.

The album Raising Sand reaching number two in the American charts – number four here.

The old power sold 300 million albums worldwide, an appeal undiminished to the 20 million people who registered for tickets to see Led Zeppelin play once more this December – 25 years after they disbanded.

Plant – who resisted a reunion till now – says it’s a one night stand to honor the man who signed them in America – Atlantic Records boss Ahmet Ertegun who died last year.

Ertegun‘s Atlantic Records signed and then cultivated the sounds of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Ben E King. But when he heard a Led Zeppelin demo in ’68 he added them to the roster.

While many are hoping the tribute concert will lead to a full scale Led Zeppelin tour, it seems for now Robert Plant is right at home working with Alison Krauss and their album‘s producer T Bone Burnett – who helped select old country and folk tracks to cover.

So for now it’s back to rehearsals with his old bandmates Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and, standing in for his late father on drums, John Bonham‘s son Jason.

Hopeful rumors have begun that they’re being courted for Glastonbury – but meanwhile people are paying thousands for reunion tickets, refusing to take the chance it really is a one off.

I don't see how his partnership with Alison is a publicity stunt. He's said himself he's learning a whole side of American music he'd never listened to before, and he's learning things about singing he's never known. He's doing something he hasn't done before, whereas Zep, as great as they were, is something he's already done. The achievement (for him) in a reunited Zep would be in getting along with his old bandmates (easier said than done) and trying to make old material interesting again (to him). Sure, all us fans of Zep would love to see a tour, but at the same time maybe we should understand that it wouldn't/couldn't possibly be the same, nor as good as it was when it was happening.

For a singer with nothing to prove and no need for more money, it's really not "about the fans" at all. It's about the personal journey he's on. If his fans want to come along with him, he's grateful and happy to have us. If his fans want him to feed their nostalgia or their need to see something they missed the first time around, he's really not interested. No hard feelings, I'm sure--that's just the way the guy is.

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has said that he has nothing but bad memories about the bands previous reunion shows.

Speaking ahead of the band’s one-off show at the O2 Arena in London next Monday (December 10th), Plant described their show at Live Aid in 1985 as a “fucking atrocity” and their performance at Atlantic Records’ 40th Birthday in 1988 as “foul.”

Despite his bad memories, the band have rehearsed a meticulous two hour set list for Monday’s show.

The concert, which attracted over 1 million applicants for just 20,000 tickets, is being held in tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of Atlantic Records.

“I’m humbled by the way the people have responded,” Plant told the Sun, “because there’s a billion people who’d like a hit at what they’d most like to do in life.”

Monday’s line-up will feature Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham – the band’s original drummer.

"Krauss was clearly stunned by how completely Plant adapted to new styles – or, rather, old styles. “When you hear him on a traditional song such as Your Long Journey, and you think this man spellbound the world with how he sang and the way he looked, and there he is singing with absolutely no ego, just taking a supporting role – his love for this music is so obvious.”

She reveals that the pair will be touring in April. The tour is scheduled to start in America, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, then come over to the UK. More than this, they are already thinking about a second album. “The fact that T Bone and Alison want to record some more songs in January is really worrying me,” says Plant, subtly edging into the subject of Led Zep, “because I’m going to need to rest my voice after the O2. We’re rehearsing like loonies. I woke up this morning and I couldn’t speak – but I never sang Kashmir as well as I did yesterday.”

Looks like they're playing New Orleans too...end of April/early May
